The Central America-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement, commonly known as CAFTA-DR, is a trade agreement between the United States and several Central American countries, as well as the Dominican Republic. It was signed in 2005 and is designed to promote trade and investment by reducing tariffs and other trade barriers among the participating countries. 2. CARICOM - DR
The CARICOM/Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement provisionally took effect on December 1, 2001, in the Dominican Republic and most CARICOM states. The agreement, anticipated by business sectors in both regions, allows duty-free trade between the two parties and includes special arrangements for selected agricultural products. It also covers trade in services and investment protection and is managed by a Joint Council. 3. CARIFORUM - EU EPA
The CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement, signed in October 2008, encompasses not just trade in goods, but also trade in services, investment, competition policy, government procurement, intellectual property rights, and sustainable development. It aims to promote investment and trade between the two regions and provides predictable market access for EU and Caribbean traders. The agreement gradually opens up the EU services market, including creative industries, to Caribbean service providers, and the Caribbean market to EU service providers.
